Campaign launched to support socially disadvantaged children and children with special needs

A New Year gift collection campaign for children with special needs and children from socially vulnerable families began in Bijeljina today. It is organised by the Cultural Centre, Vermont and CER, in cooperation with several kindergartens in the city.

The event began with decorating the New Year’s tree in front of the Cultural Centre, and gifts were brought by children from the “Čika Jova Zmaj”, “Bajka”, “Štrumpfograd”, “Dragan i Zoran” and “Petar Pan” kindergartens.

“We started the campaign with children from several city kindergartens, who brought gifts, sweets and toys,” said the Cultural Centre’s programme editor, Ljiljana Simić, speaking to reporters. She added that the children would then have the opportunity to watch the film “A Christmas Tale” in the Cultural Centre hall.

Simić announced that the first distribution of the collected gift packages for children with special needs and socially disadvantaged children would take place on Saturday, 20 December, at 15.00 at the Cultural Centre.

The second distribution of gift packages will be organised on 28 December at 10.00.

Simić invited all interested citizens, businesses, public institutions, civic associations and others who are able to take part in this campaign, which runs until Christmas.

She added that it was encouraging that some businesspeople had already joined the campaign.

Sweets, toys and similar gifts can be dropped off outside the Cultural Centre every day from 8.00 to 21.00.
