As the well-known children’s song goes, “Children are the world’s adornment.” In the same spirit, we brought colour to 28 August 2015 by organising another sports workshop in Vidovice as part of the “Give Me Your Hand for the Next Step” project.

At the sports workshop, children from Velika Obarska and Vidovice spent time together with the aim of developing a sporting spirit through socialising, sport and recreation, while also reducing the level of prejudice that is increasingly prevalent in today’s society. We sought to foster in them an awareness of friendship and respect for their own culture and traditions, as well as familiarity with and appreciation of the traditions and culture of others who are different.

Once again, the sports workshop was organised by a coach, who divided the participants into appropriate groups and arranged various competitions in which the children demonstrated their sporting skills. The workshop participants expressed great satisfaction with the quality of the organisation and with the hospitality of their peers from the municipality of Vidovice. This was the first time that children from Velika Obarska had met children from Vidovice. We look forward to continuing to socialise, getting to know one another even better and building stronger friendships at future workshops.

The aim of the project “Give Me Your Hand for the Next Step” is to bring together young people from the target municipalities and enable them to create shared, positive life experiences, thereby fostering an environment that will contribute to reconciliation, the mobilization of personal and collective resources toward achieving shared goals, and the overall improvement of conditions in BiH. Focusing its work on improving the situation of young people through promoting and advocating reconciliation, tolerance and coexistence in the community, the SOS Association from Brčko, in cooperation with the Centre for Education and Research (CER), is carrying out this project in three locations: Srebrenik, Velika Obarska and Vidovice. As is known, the project has been running since 21 April and will continue until December. A closing event will be held that month, bringing children from the aforementioned municipalities together in Brčko, a city that symbolizes the functionality of all three peoples. Through acting, they will show what they have learned over the past period.
