Another sports gathering in Velika Obarska

Centar za edukaciju i istraživanje (CER) from Bijeljina and the Serbian Youth Association from Brčko, as part of the project “Reach out to me for the next step,” organized another get-together in Velika Obarska.

“Spending time with friends from Velika Obarska and Vidovice is a wonderful gift for me. We practised together today, socialized and shared the positive energy these children radiate. I’m glad that I was able, as an athlete, to introduce them to this interesting sports course and dance, and that exercising together filled them with happiness and joy. I thank them for that,” said the coach, who organized another sports workshop today for children from Velika Obarska and Vidovice.

As is well known, every month as part of the project “Reach out to me for the next step,” we organize a sports workshop through which we seek to build children’s awareness of friendship and respect for their own culture and traditions, as well as to help them learn about and respect the traditions and culture of others. Nowadays, children rarely have the opportunity to meet their peers from other municipalities, and this project makes that possible. In this way, we want to promote peace, tolerance and coexistence among people of different faiths, because this creates the conditions for a bright future for us and our descendants.

Around 30 children from these two places took part in today’s workshop, demonstrating their sporting skills on the obstacle course as well as through dancing in pairs with balloons.

The value of this project lies in its educational and drama workshops, which encourage children to acquire and expand their knowledge of relevant topics, communicate more with one another and get to know each other better.

As a reminder, the purpose of the project “Give Me a Hand for the Next Step” is to bring together children from the target municipalities and enable them to create shared, positive life experiences, thereby creating an environment that will contribute to the reconciliation process, the mobilization of personal and collective resources toward achieving shared goals, and the overall improvement of conditions in BiH.
