The Faculty of Education in Bijeljina, in cooperation with the Center for Education and Research, organized today the 10th scientific conference with international participation, “Science and Teaching Today,” at which 60 scientific papers will be presented.
“We are putting the Faculty of Education in the spotlight, and we should be leaders in science and the profession in the fields of pedagogy, preschool education, and the education of primary and secondary school teachers, and through conferences like this we should also make progress and set guidelines in these fields,” said Dalibor Stević, dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of East Sarajevo.
He noted that the jubilee scientific conference brought together experts from faculties in Serbia, Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of preschool institutions, primary schools, and other institutions and organizations engaged in related activities. A new feature was the participation of representatives from two faculties focusing on the development of children with special needs.
“The role of our higher education institution, which trains preschool, primary and secondary school teachers, is also to make adjustments and welcome every initiative and desire for change and improvement, while also remaining cautious and responding to the actual needs of our society,” Stević emphasized.
The dean of the Faculty of Education praised cooperation with the relevant ministries in Republika Srpska in this field, noting that professional guidelines are taken into account.
“Just as every child’s development is different, each era brings its own challenges, and we as a society must respond accordingly,” Stević said, adding that the conclusions of the scientific conference would also provide guidance for future work in this field.
Following the opening ceremony and plenary presentation, the conference proceedings will be organized into seven subject-area sessions covering music and sports, pedagogy and psychology, preschool education, and classroom teaching.
