Mladen Dokić, director of the Centre for Education and Research, attended the “Sports School” launched by the Faculty of Education in Bijeljina today.

“This sports school proves that with a little effort, work and willingness, you can make use of your own resources and create something that benefits both the community and the institution itself. That’s why we decided to help the school in every way,” said Mladen Dokić.

For children aged three and up, this sports school is the perfect place to spend their free time.

Elements of athletics, basketball, hiking, football and other sports, aimed at improving coordination, developing motor skills and, above all, improving children’s health, are just some of the reasons behind the founding of the “Sports School” at the Faculty of Education in Bijeljina.

After much thought about how best to use the faculty’s basement rooms, which were almost destroyed in the floods, the result was an adapted space where little ones can enjoy themselves under the watchful eye of experts.

In addition to the primary aim of establishing it—to correct irregularities in children’s physical development—another aspect of its establishment is to make good use of their free time and guide them towards a particular sport based on their preferences and assessments to be carried out at the Faculty of Education, says Dean Prof. Dr Dalibor Stević.

This is much more than an ordinary exercise room. The sports school also has a diagnostic center that monitors the condition of the spine, feet, knees and body fat, and introduces exercises to correct irregularities based on the results.

Students of the Faculty of Education are in regular contact with the children. They say they are delighted to have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the kind of environment they can expect after graduation, when they begin the careers they have chosen.

The faculty says it has ambitious plans and wants to find a way to adapt another room so that training sessions can be held simultaneously with two groups. Another particular advantage is that a space for parents has also been adapted, where they can wait for the children in a pleasant setting while they finish training.
