The Education Fair “In-demand Profession – Faster Employment” was held in Bijeljina, bringing together final-year primary school students, secondary schools and business representatives to help students choose a future career. The fair was also visited by representatives of the Center for Education and Research (CER) from Bijeljina and the “Vermont” Youth Center from Brčko.
What makes this event particularly important is the fact that, for the first time in seven years, Brčko does not have its Education and Employment Fair this year. The Brčko Fair attracted an average of between 1.000 and 1.500 visitors annually, with 25 to 35 exhibitors—secondary schools, universities from across BiH and the region, as well as businesses with specific hiring needs.
Unlike the concept in Bijeljina, which focused on secondary schools and occupations in short supply, the Brčko fair brought together the entire pathway—from choosing a secondary school to university and employment opportunities—and exhibitors were able to participate completely free of charge.
Brčko has thus lost a platform that connected education and the labour market for seven years, while Bijeljina has shown this year that there is still interest in and a need for events like these.
